Open Houses.....

I think I should pause for a while on our holiday to Istanbul as it's going to be a loooongggg entry and also I would not update the recent event happened. Well nothing much to write but just to update a few open houses that we attended from the moment we arrived from Istanbul. Me having invited to an open house is like a blessing in disguise as I don't need to think of what to cook for the family. Kira dah settle la....

So we arrived in Khartoum on Thursday (18/10) midnite. The next day I got an Open House invitation thru someone else. Since we were not invited directly we decided not to attend. Furthermore, craving for something pedas , I decided to cook Nasi Lemak for lunch. Makan tak ingat punya sampai bertambah2! Just because in Istanbul it was difficult to get hot and spicy food (delicious just not pedas for me!)

20/10, 3 p.m - Open house Kak Ruhana/Jumasri

We got the invitation on Friday so I knew that I didn't have to cook. Yay!! The menu included soto, meehoon goreng, ketupat nasi & rendang daging, doughnut, sausage bun and kuih raya..

26/10, 10.30 a.m - Open house Kak Erlina

It was not actually an open house per se since it was just for the wives from our block. Since all the husbands needed to go to a work related event, we decided to have 'morning coffee' instead. The menu was nasi lemak sambal udang, spaggetti goreng, curry puff (Kak Jina), lontong (Mine) and kuih raya. Siap tapau sikit for hubby ! Bertuahnya isteri2 semua.....

27/10, 2.30 p.m - Open house Kak Bariah/Aizuddin

Today was the best because we were invited to both lunch and dinner open houses. And as for me - no cooking again la! We had nasi beriyani with ayam masak merah and acar timun, mee rebus, murtabak daging, rendang tok, kuih raya ( a must-have dish mana2 open house pun) and fruits. Gila kenyang makan!!

27/10, 7.30 p.m - Open house block G, H & I

These 3 blocks had cooperated together to host a joint open house for all Malaysian families and staff. It was really a big event as they had about 300 invitees. But this time around we had a very 'kampung' dish which are nasi putih, masak lemak ayam, paru berlada, sate kharuf (lamb), sup kharuf, daging masak kicap, sambal belacan, ulam2 n ikan kering. And of course signature dish for raya some lemang with rendang and kuih-muih and also fruits.

We quietly asked the organiser if we could kekahkan a kharuf, on behalf of Erica. They accepted. Alhamdullilah...

28/10, 7.00 p.m - Open house Kak Lisna/Saiful Azli

They are our good friends in Khartoum. I guess Kak Lisna decided to do the open house after we kept nagging her. Nak buat macamana?? Semua jenis malas nak masak dah.... The menu was nasi putih & nasi minyak, ayam masak merah, daging masak kicap, sayur campur, serunding, puding (Kak Jina), chocolate cake & strawberry cup cake (Kak Shikeen), bread butter pudding (Mine) and signature dish of hari raya.

Even though there are lots of open houses that we attended but these are the only picture that I have since yang lain I am busy preparing my stomach to be filled by the delicious food! So this is it as of now. I will continue my next entry with another episode of Istanbul (and more Open houses to come!) ......
